Pediatric urology is the medical specialty that treats children’s kidneys, bladders, ureters and genitals. If your child is born with a condition that affects these body parts, our urology team is here to help.
Our nationally known surgeons offer the latest in laparoscopic and endoscopic surgeries. These are surgical techniques that use smaller incisions. For your child, this means less pain, less risk for infection and a quicker recovery.
Our team also provides complex care, like biofeedback, Botox injections, and sacral neuromodulation for voiding disorders (difficulty emptying the bladder, urinary incontinence and nocturnal enuresis).
The Nemours Children's urology team does everything it can to help kids be their best and happiest.

Meet Urology Division Chief Jennifer Hagerty, DO, Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware. She shares how using technology, working together, and focusing on family has transformed the lives of the children in her care.
We understand that children and teens aren’t just small adults, so they need prompt and innovative care specifically designed for their growing bodies. We diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions, from the very simple to the most complex:
We help kids of all ages. This includes babies before they’re born to young adults.
Our team knows children and how to relate to them. The genital area of the body can be hard for kids — and parents — to talk about. We explain urological problems in a way that children understand. We’re experts at making them feel better.
We offer sedation for diagnostic procedures that may produce pain to minimize discomfort and memory of the procedure. At Nemours, we have more than 25 years of experience in offering a combination of sedation and Child Life support for procedures such as VCUG (voiding cystourethrogram) and urodynamic testing so that children are comfortable during these procedures.
Our colleagues in Anesthesia offer Spinal Anesthesia for genital surgery in children younger than 18 months of age. This is a very good alternative to general anesthesia for infants undergoing certain types of genital surgery.
We offer complex care for voiding issues, including reconstructive procedures and neurostimulation.
Our team gives second opinions on urologic conditions for kids across the country. If your child has already seen a doctor, we can review the medical history and give a diagnosis and suggested treatment.
We work with doctors from more than 20 specialties to care for children with countless conditions. Urological problems are sometimes due to a disorder. By working with the people treating it, we can better help your child.
